COMMUNICATION AND CONTROL

CALL SYSTEM

The passenger call system enables passengers to alert the flight crew to a need for assistance. Flight attendant call
switches are located on the passenger PCUs, the scroll-wheel control panels, and on the lavatory PCU. When the call
system chime is sounded, cabin entertainment system audio output is briefly muted.
When a flight attendant call is activated anywhere within the cabin or lavatory:
• At the location where the call originated, the flight attendant icon button status on the seat's PCU changes to green.
• A chime is heard through the cabin speakers, the PA speakers in the entry and lavatory, and the headphones.
• Visual annunciation of a call displays in the cockpit on the Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) for
10 seconds.
• If the Attendant Calls map page is shown on the GCP, an active attendant call icon appears at the related seat location
on the map.
To clear the flight attendant call and reset its annunciator:
1. On the GCP, touch the flight attendants icon on the main menu page, as required.
Make sure the Attendant Calls map page is shown.
2. Touch each seat with an active attendant call icon to be reset, as required.
Make sure each active attendant call icon changes to cleared, as required.
3. When the process is complete, touch the Return arrow until the main menu page is shown.
Note: An active attendant call icon is shown in amber. A cleared attendant call icon is shown as white with a green check mark.
Once an attendant call has been cleared from the system, the flight attendant icon button status on the related PCU is also
cleared.
