2.16) Red boost lamp of the boost pressure control lights up continuously
▲WARNING: The engine must not be put into operation until the cause has
When the red boost lamp lights up, this indicates that the nominal pressure in
the airbox has been exceeded.
Depending on how long the limit is exceeded, increased wear as a result of
thermal overload can be expected at cylinders, valves and spark plugs.
The following checks must be carried out:
Limit exceeded for up to 1 min.:
Carry out visual inspection of the engine, in particular the turbocharger and the
air intake system.

Check wiring. See 12-00-00, sec. 6.1.
If no mechanical damage is detected during the visual inspection, check the
boost pressure control. See sec. 13.6.
No immediate checks are necessary as long as no further operating limits have
been exceeded.
■ CAUTION:
If the value was exceeded for more than 1 min.:
The pistons, cylinders, valves and cylinder heads must be inspected.
