Initializing and Setting Up the Routers

To initialize the Model 5380 Ethernet Router or the Model 5580 Token Ring
Router, you need to attach a terminal to the System 5000 chassis service port. This
connection gives you access to the Technician Interface and the System 5000
service port menus. The Technician Interface lets you set up the router and view
the settings and statistics. The service port menus let you connect the router to the
common management bus (CMB) that connects all modules installed in the hub to
one another and to the supervisory module.
To configure protocols, start with Configuring Routers (router software) or
Getting Started with Site Manager (BayStream software).
To manage the routers in a network, start with Using Site Manager Software
(router software) or Getting Started with Site Manager (BayStream software).
To use the Technician Interface, refer to Using Technician Interface Software
(router software) or Getting Started with the Technician Interface (BayStream
software).
