Using Model 5380 Ethernet and Model 5580 Token Ring Routers

Preparing for Installation

This section explains how to prepare the router module for installation in the
chassis and provides the following information:

Tools and Equipment

You need the following tools and materials for installation:

Installing DRAM on a router module
Installing the memory card
Installing a net module
Medium flat-tip screwdriver
Phillips screwdriver
Grounded antistatic mat and wrist strap
Caution: The System 5000 equipment uses electronic components that
are sensitive to static electricity. Static discharge from your clothing or
other fixtures around you can cause damage. Take all possible precautions
to prevent static discharge damage when working with printed circuit
boards.
Place each module on a grounded antistatic mat until you are ready to
install the module. If you do not have an antistatic mat, wear a discharge
leash, or wrist strap to free yourself of static before touching any of the
modules, or free yourself of static by touching the metal chassis before
handling the module.
