Installing DRAM

You can configure Model 5380 and Model 5580 routers with 8 MB, 16 MB, or
32 MB DRAM in the form of single in-line memory modules (SIMMs) that reside
on the printed circuit board. The amount of memory you need for your router
depends on the number and types of router protocols you are using on your
network.
This section describes how to install and replace the SIMMs on the router
modules. The part numbers for the Ethernet and token ring router SIMMs are:

Lay the router on an antistatic mat.
Caution: If you do not wear an antistatic wrist strap or discharge leash
to free yourself of static before touching the router module or any of the
SIMMs, free yourself of static by touching the metal of the chassis
before handling the router module and the SIMMs.
Locate the SIMM sockets on the router (see Figure 2-2).
