Technical Notice
This document describes how to use Bay Networks™ Site Manager to configure a Model
5380 Ethernet Router or a Model 5580 Token Ring Router in a System 5000™ Hub.
Note: You can configure a Model 5380 Ethernet Router or a Model 5580
Token Ring Router in a System 5000 Hub using the UNIX version of Site
Manager only. The UNIX version of Site Manager runs on the Sun
SPARCstation, HP 9000, and IBM RS/6000.
This information supplements the instructions in the documentation set for Site Manager.

  • Page 2 Configuring a Model 5380 Ethernet Router or a Model 5580 Token Ring Router on a System 5000 Hub To configure a Model 5380 or 5580 Router on a System 5000 Hub: In the main Site Manager window, select Tools Configuration Manager, and then choose an operating mode: Local File, Remote File, or Dynamic.

  • Page 4 Site Manager will not recognize the routers as a stack. In that case, each router functions as a separate router. Click on Module 3 in the slot in which you want to configure the Model 5380 or 5580 Router.
  • Page 5 In the same slot that you just specified for the router, select the module position of the net module (if any) on the router. Note: You can configure the net modules on a Model 5380 or 5580 Router in Module 1 or 2 only. If you attempt to configure the net modules in Module 3, Site Manager displays an error.
  • Page 6 For information about Access Stack Nodes, refer to Installing and Maintaining ASN Routers and BNX Platforms . For information on Model 5380 and 5580 Routers, refer to Using the Model 5380 Ethernet and the Model 5580 Token Ring Routers .
