Using Model 5380 Ethernet and Model 5580 Token Ring Routers

Hardware Description

The Model 5380 and 5580 routers are assemblies (see Figure 1-1) that consist of a
metal module frame to which is fastened the router printed circuit board with
backplane interface connectors, the PCMCIA connector, and the plastic front
panel.

The assembly includes inserter/extractor levers and one captive retaining screw at
both the top and bottom of the module front panel.
Each Ethernet or token ring router occupies one slot in a System 5000 hub. The
router connects to the 100BASE-T common management bus (CMB) and power.
The router modules also have connectors for a PPX backplane if it is installed in
the chassis.
