Installing the Expansion Card

This chapter provides detailed instructions for installing the Expansion Card in your blade server.

Installation guidelines

Before you begin installing the Expansion Card in your blade server, read the following information:
• Read "General Safety" on page 8 and "Any computer part containing transistors or integrated
circuits (IC) should be considered sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). ESD damage can
occur when there is a difference in charge between objects. Protect against ESD damage by
equalizing the charge so that the server, the part, the work mat, and the person handling the part
are all at the same charge." on page 9. This information will help you work safely with your
blade server and options.
• Have a small flat-blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver available.
