Removing and replacing an expansion board
Use these instructions to remove and replace expansion boards such as Smart I/O cards (such as the Pensando DSP DSC-25 2p SFP28
card), solid state NVMe/PCIe Add-In-Cards, HBAs, CNAs, InfiniBand adapters, and accelerators.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury, electric shock, or damage to the equipment,
WARNING:
remove power from the server by removing the power cord. The front panel Power On/Standby
button does not shut off system power. Portions of the power supply and some internal circuitry
remain active until AC power is removed.
Procedure
Procedure
1. Power down the server.
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Do one of the following:
a. Extend the server from the rack .
b. Remove the server from the rack .
4. Remove the access panel .
5. Remove the riser cage.
6. If a retaining screw is installed, remove the screw.
7. Do one of the following:
Remove the expansion board from the primary riser cage:
a. Remove the expansion board.
Remove the expansion board from the secondary riser cage:
a. Lift the secondary rear wall.
b. Remove the expansion card.
