General remarks

Basic system
The new TIG power sources are completely digitised, microprocessor-controlled inverter
principle
power sources. An active power-source manager is coupled with a digital signal
processor, and together they control and regulate the entire welding process. The actual
data are measured continuously, and the machine responds immediately to any
changes. The control algorithms developed by Fronius ensure that the specified target
status is maintained at all times. This gives the weld process an unrivalled degree of
precision, with exact replicability of all results, and superlative welding properties.
Alongside the welding properties, the high degree of efficiency is another key feature of
the technology incorporated in the new TIG power sources.

Work with the new MagicWave 1700 / 2200 and TransTig 2200 machines is made even
easier by their self-explanatory, "intuitive" operating concept. Despite the wealth of
features with which the machines are loaded, the welder can see the key functions "at a
glance" and adjust them accordingly. The "Job Mode" feature makes it possible to store
"Jobs" (programmed welding sequences) which can then be recalled at any time and
used again for welding the relevant type of seam.
The standardised LocalNet interface makes it easy to connect up digital system add-ons
(JobMaster TIG welding torches, other torches, remote-control units, ...), and to
implement automated and robot-welding tasks. Another interesting feature is the
automatic electrode cap-shaping facility for AC welding with the MagicWave 1700 / 2200
power sources. This function takes account of the diameter of the tungsten electrode
that is being used, so as to achieve optimum results.
