Tacking function
For details of how to adjust the set-up parameter "tAC", please refer to the section
headed "The set-up menu: Level 1" - sub-section "TIG set-up parameters".
As soon as a value is set for tAC (tacking) in the "Set-up menu: Level 1", the operating
modes "2-step mode" (2) and "4-step mode" (3) have the tacking function assigned to
them. The operating sequence of each of these modes remains unchanged (see "TIG
operating modes").
A time period can be set for the tAC set-up parameter. During this period, there is a
pulsed welding current that makes the weld-pool run together better when two parts are
being tack-joined.
Important! The diagram below illustrates the tacking function in cases where the DC
welding process has been selected.

The pulsed welding current begins

-
0.2 Hz to 5 Hz ....... Thermal pulsing
(Out-of-position welding, automated welding)
1 kHz to 2 kHz ...... Arc-stabilising pulsing
(for stabilising the arc at low amperages)
Note! The tacking function is only available for the TIG-DC welding process.
