5.3.6 Subassembly 23: Converter

The converter technology (FU – frequency converter) used in the system generates a
medium-frequency, single-phase alternating voltage from 3-phase power supply with a fixed
frequency of 50/60Hz. The generated single-phase AC voltage is transferred to a medium-
voltage level by means of a step-up transformer.
A pulse converter with variable operating frequency with a dynamic range of 0.1% -100% is
used. (corresponds to a frequency range of 1 Hz - 1000 Hz).
The following table shows an overview of the units in use.

By a relay with two change-over contacts
an external flashlight is energized
the second contact can be used for alarm signalization
and/or for activation of a technical ventilation.
In case of a malfunction, the PLC output energizes a relay for
30 seconds, which in turn activates an external acoustic alarm
signal.
