2. Open the front doors of the detector.
CAUTION Because the lamps run hot, turn off the power and allow sufficient time
(approximately 30 minutes) for the lamps to cool before you remove the lamp cover.
3. Using the 1/8 in. ball-end hex screwdriver (supplied), unscrew the captive retaining screw
on the lamp cover (see

4. Pull the cover off to expose the lamp assemblies.
5. To read the chronometer, check the position of the electrolyte gap in the mercury tube
against the graduated background (see
