Clutch Installation - Optional
Assembly instruction for models without a factory installed
Clutch.
1. On the outside of the Clutch Transmission Side Plate
top 2-3/16" hole, install Flangettes and Bearing with
5/16-18 x 1 Carriage Bolts, Lock Washers and Nuts.
See Figure 2-12. Do Not Tighten at this time.
2. Orient the Coupler so that the sprocket will be on the
end of the shafts. Place a 3/16 x 1 Square Key into
Speed Reducer Shaft and Clutch Shaft. Install
Coupler onto the Speed Reducer Shaft and the Clutch
Shaft.
3. Position Clutch and Shaft Assembly so the Coupler
End faces the Speed Reducer and lift it into Clutch
Transmission and through the Bearing. Align and
connect with Double Chain the Clutch Shaft Coupler
and the Speed Reducer Coupler while maintaining a
9/32" gap between the Coupler Sprockets. Ensure
Square Keys are in place. Tighten Bearing Hardware
and Lock Collar.
4. Secure Clutch Torque Arm to Clutch Transmission
Tab with 1/4-20 x 1 Bolt, Spacer, Flat Washer, and
Locknut. Clutch Arm must be free to float 1/16 of an
inch.
5. On the outside of the Clutch Transmission Side Plate
bottom 2-3/16" hole, install Flangettes and Bearing
and on the inside install the Chain Tensioner with the
Idler attached using 5/16 x 1-1/4 Carriage Bolts, Flat
Washers, Lock Washers, and Nuts. Do Not tighten at
this time.
6. Replace Transmission Shaft with Clutch
Transmission Shaft. Place a 3/16 x 1 Square Key into
the Clutch Transmission Shaft. Orient the 30 Tooth
Sprocket Hub towards the Speed Reducer. Slide
Shaft through the Sprocket and the Bearing.
7. Align the Clutch Sprocket and the 30 Tooth Sprocket
and install Chain. Adjust Chain Tensioner Idler.
Tighten Bearing Hardware and Lock Collar.
8. Install Grommet in the Clutch Transmission Side
Plate 1-3/8" Hole.
9. Route the Clutch Cord through the Hose Clamp and
Grommet so the Clutch Cord Connector End is
outside the Transmission. Install Hose Clamp to
Clutch Transmission Mounting Bolt and secure with
Locknut.
