The Power LED turns on, and various LEDs turn on and off as the modem performs a self-test and transitions to
boot phase. (Indication that the self-test passed appears later as Self Test : Passed on the screen shown in Figure
20: Terminal Initialization Sequence complete on page 33.)
A suitable surge protector is recommended to protect the satellite modem from possible damage due to power surges.

Connecting the installer laptop to the modem

For this task you need the provided Ethernet cable.
To access the satellite modem so you can perform the required installation procedures, you connect your installer laptop
computer to the modem. After the modem is installed and registered with the satellite network, you connect the modem
to the customer's computer. During modem installation the installer laptop computer must be directly connected to the
modem without any intervening connection.
Connect the installer laptop to the satellite modem:
1. Use the Ethernet cable to connect your laptop computer directly to the modem's LAN port, as shown in Figure 11:

Do not connect the installer laptop to the modem through an Ethernet router or switch.
