setting for the battery type being used. See
Changing Mode Setting . After changing the
mode setting repeat Step b to verify the
proper mode has been selected.
3.
Is the Power On LED illuminated continuously
when the charger is connected to a 120 volt AC
power source?
a.
YES: Proceed to Step 4.
b.
NO: Check to ensure battery power is present
(>12 Vdc) between battery terminals B(+) and
B(-). If voltage is within specifications, proceed
to Step c.
c.
Disconnect AC and charger B(+) and B(-)
leads. Wait five seconds and then apply AC
power. Does the power ON LED illuminate?
(1) YES: No further faults present at this time.
(2) NO: Replace charger.
4.
Is the Detection LED illuminated continuously
when the charger is connected to a 120 volt AC
power source?
a.
YES: Battery is not connected to charger or
battery voltage is less than 2V. Check
connections. If connections are clean and tight,
troubleshoot the battery pack.
b.
NO: Proceed to Step 5.
5.
Is the Charging LED either flashing or illuminated
continuously when the charger is connected to a
120 volt AC power source?

6.
Check the output of the charger using a digital
voltmeter:
a.
Connect the voltmeter to the charger's positive
(Red) and negative (Black) connections at the
battery terminals. Record the voltage and then
monitor it for approximately 3 minutes. Did the
voltage INCREASE while monitoring?
(1) YES: The charger is functioning correctly.
Proceed to Step 7.
(2) NO: Replace the charger.
7.
Was the voltage reading in Step 6 higher than
16VDC?
a.
YES: Proceed to Charging.
b.
NO: See General Troubleshooting section for
further troubleshooting.
Error Modes
The five red LEDs are used to troubleshoot the
charger. Observe the operation of the Power On,
Abnormal Shutdown, and the Detection Error LEDs to
determine the cause for the error notification. See
Table 4.
If any of the LEDs flash in a "Three-Fast-Flash, Off,
Three-Fast-Flash" repetitive sequence, the charge
cycle has terminated prematurely. An abnormal
charging condition has been detected and charging
stopped due to a charge error conditions, see Table 4.
