Troubleshooting
PROBLEM
Pump produces noise.
Abnormal temperature rise of hy-
draulic oil.
Pump case or drive gear broken.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
Cavitation caused by collapsed
suction hose or clogged screen.
Faulty oil suction.
Air suction through loose connec-
tions on suction side.
Air suction from pump oil seal.
Breather clogged.
Cavitation caused by high oil vis-
cosity.
Overwork.
Improper viscosity or contaminated
oil.
Incorrect pressure setting.

PROCEDURE OR ACTION
Drain and clean system.
Add oil to specified level.
Tighten all hose connections on
suction side.
Disassemble pump and replace oil
seals.
Clean or replace breather.
Change to recommended oil and
operate pump in recommended
temperature ranges.
Adjust workload to fall within
pump's operating range.
Drain and replace oil with recom-
mended oil.
Check for excessive resistance in
hydraulic circuit. Make certain re-
lief pressure is properly adjusted
and valve is working properly.
