Brake Check
Check for correct brake coil resistance. The brake coil
can be checked with a ohmmeter. The coil resistance
should be the value shown in Table 1.
REMOVE
CAUTION
The brake is not adjustable. Be careful not to alter
the position standoff bolts during repairs.
Some parts of the steering control handle must be
disconnected to disassemble the brakes. For addi-
tional information about removal and installation of the
steering control handle, see section Steering Mecha-
nism 1600YRM1504.
1. Move the truck to a safe, level area. Turn the key
switch to the OFF position and disconnect the
battery. Block the wheels to prevent unexpected
movement. See:

2. Remove the drive unit compartment cover. Refer
to AC Motor Repair 0620YRM1513.
3. Disconnect the brake wiring connector from the
main wiring harness connector.
4. Remove the three capscrews that hold the brake
assembly to the motor and remove the brake. See
Figure 4.
5. Remove the screws holding the adapter to the
magnet body and remove the adapter and the
friction disk.
