Step 2: Set "Option 2" -> "Water Flow Measurement" as "Flow Meter", and the corresponding value of
Water Flow at 4ma and 20ma.
Step 3: In "Inputs Status" menu, confirm that evaporator/condenser water flow sensor is working and
giving correct readings.
Step 4: In "Hydraulic Status" menu, check evaporator/condenser water flow rate value.(The f low rate
value will be linear interpolated by actual reading and configured water flow rate at 4ma/20ma)
It also can compute the water flow rate from the water pressure drop which is get from water pressure
sensors or water pressure drop sensors
Step 1: Set "Option 2" -> "IOB4 Option" as "Yes".
Step 2: Set "Option 2" -> "Water Flow Measurement" as "Water PD", and the corresponding value of
Evap/Cond Flow Rate Baseline and Evap/Cond Pressure Drop Baseline.
Step 3: See 5.34.2 for water pressure difference setting.
Step 4: In "Hydraulic Status" menu, check evaporator/condenser water flow rate value.
If water f low switch is installed, then the water flow switch status will directly indicate the flow status
Step 1: Set "Option 2" -> "IOB4 Option" as "Yes".
Step 2: Set "Option 2" -> "Water Flow Determination" as "Flow Switch"
Step 3: In "Hydraulic Status" menu, check evaporator/condenser water flow.

5.33.2. Water Pressure Difference Measurement

Carrier® SmartVu Controller provides the function of measuring water pressure difference. When
entering and leaving water pressure transducer is installed, or when water pressure drop transducer is

installed, Carrier® SmartVu can compute or read the water pressure difference between entering and
leaving water pressure, and determine whether the water is flowing. After the water pump is switched on,
if the water pressure difference reachs the threshold, the water flow check is passed, then the chiller can
start. Otherwise there will be an alarm shutdown.
For entering and leaving water pressure transducer:
Step 1: Set "Option 2" -> "IOB4 Option" as "Yes".
Step 2: Set "Option 2" -> "Water Pressure Option" as "Pressure".
Step 3: In "Hydraulic Status" menu, check Condenser Water Delta P, Condenser Water Flow,
Evaporator Water Delta P, Evaporator Water Flow
For water pressure drop transducer:
Step 1: Set "Option 2" -> "IOB4 Option" as "Yes".
