Lighting the FID flame

Getting Started
If you have set the gas pressures as described in
starting pressures"
on page 44 and
settings"
on page 45, you will achieve (approximately) the flows
given in these tables. You may want to check them using an
electronic or bubble flow meter. See the Operation manual on
the 6820 User Information CD for details of flow measurement.

FID flow module controls
Air and Hydrogen have solid control knobs. These are on/off
valves and are not suitable for making fine adjustments. Use the
internal pressure regulators for control.
Aux Gas has a screwdriver adjustment inside the on/off knob.
Use the knob as an on/off control, the pressure regulator as a
course flow adjustment and the screwdriver adjustment for fine
control.
The TCD module has fine adjustments for Reference and Aux Gas.
The ECD module has none.
After setting the detector gases, press and hold the Ignitor
button on the flow module. You should hear a soft "poof" as the
flame lights.
