8 Leak-test the installation at the column nut. If necessary,
tighten fitting(s) further only enough to stop leakage.
Overtightening will cause the ferrule to stick in the fitting.
Leak-detection fluids often leave contaminating residues. After each
application, rinse the area checked with CH
to dry.
The correct liner, makeup gas adapter, and makeup gas adapter
liner have been installed in the detector at the factory.
Use
Figure 39
as a guide:
1 Install a column nut and 1.0-mm id ferrule on the column.
This may contaminate the end of the column. Prepare a fresh
column end following instructions given in
the Checkout Column"
2 Insert the column into the detector until it bottoms. Do not
force it.
3 Slide the column nut and ferrule up the column to the
adapter and finger-tighten the nut.
4 Pull the column out 1 mm. Use a wrench to tighten the nut an
additional 1/4-turn. The column should not move.
If the column ID is smaller than 0.2 mm, refer to the Maintenance and
Troubleshooting manual on the 6820 User Information CD-ROM.
