Step 8. Condition the Column

Set up for column conditioning
Getting Started
The checkout column is now installed in an inlet. Do not
connect it to a detector at this time.
Volatile impurities will be driven off the column during the conditioning
process. These could contaminate a detector if it were connected.
The column must be conditioned before use to remove any
contaminants that might interfere with the checkout run.
Do not use hydrogen carrier to condition a column. The column
effluent exhausts into the oven and could create an explosion hazard.
1 Turn the TOTAL FLOW (split/splitless inlet) or CARRIER FLOW
(purged packed inlet) knob counter-clockwise to start flow
through the column See
