Installing an Additional Hard Drive in an A1010 Blade
To install an additional hard drive in an A1010 blade, ensure that you have the following:

Perform the following steps:
Note:
1. Remove the blade from the chassis, as described in
page 40.
2. Remove the three 6-32 screws that retain the top cover.
3. Slide the top cover back toward the rear of the blade to remove it from the chassis.
4. Connect the SATA power cable and data cable to the hard drive. The cables and
connectors might be tucked under the primary drive.
5. Place the hard drive in the secondary bay:
a. Align screw holes on the side wall.
b. Secure hard drive to the side of blade frame with two 6-32 x 1/4–inch screws.
6. Rotate blade on its side and secure the drive to the base with one additional 6-32 x
1/4–inch screw.
7. Tuck the data cable into the cable management channel next to the primary hard drive and
then route the cable to the front of the blade.
8. Connect the data cable to motherboard.
9. Replace the top cover panel, ensuring that the side walls of the cover are on the outside of
the flanges on the base frame.
10. Replace the three 6-32 screws that retain the top cover.
11. Return the blade to the chassis, as described in
12. Power on the blade.
13. If necessary, install operating system and application software on the new hard drive.

When replacing a drive on an A1010 blade where two drives are installed, unscrew
both drives from the chassis for easier access to drive cables.
CAUTION: Some surfaces on the blade may be hot, especially when the
blade has been powered on. Remove and handle the blade with care.
