Chapter 4. Upgrading and Maintaining
ClearCube's A–Series architecture simplifies computer and component upgrades. You can
easily upgrade or replace a PC blade by performing the following steps:
1. Remove the chassis's front bezel
2. Remove the PC blade from the chassis
3. Insert a new PC blade in the empty chassis slot
Customers and qualified technicians can upgrade and replace blade components such as
memory and hard drives. You can access these components in a blade by removing the blade
from its chassis. To maintain your ClearCube warranty and ensure proper operation, only use
commodities that you obtain from your Authorized ClearCube Reseller when performing
upgrades.
ClearCube products consist of parts, or units, that customers and qualified technicians can
replace. The following list describes these units.
•
Customer–Replaceable Units (CRUs)—Items that customers can replace. CRUs include
the following:
–
–
–
–
Other components are not intended for customer replacement, and removing any of these
components voids your warranty. Contact ClearCube Support Engineers for information
about replacing CRUs or FRUs. See
about your warranty.
•
Field–Replaceable Units (FRUs)—Items that trained service providers and ClearCube
Systems Engineers (SEs) must replace on–site. FRUs include all CRUs and the following:
–
Blades and Components
CAUTION: Some surfaces on the blade may be hot, especially when the blade
has been powered on. Remove and handle the blade with care.
CAUTION: All upgrades should be performed by a qualified computer
technician. Take proper precautions to avoid damaging electrostatic
discharges by working at a grounded computer equipment repair bench.
Damage caused by improper upgrade procedures will void your warranty.
