4. Blade slots are numbered from 1 to 10, starting with the left-most slot. There will be a
slight resistance to insertion when the rear connector goes into the backplane power
connector (and signal connector, for A1410 blades). When properly seated, the PC blade
is flush with the front edge of the bottom guide bracket.
5. After inserting all blades, replace the bezel.
6. Attach an Ethernet cable.

8. After you have finished inserting blades, replace the front bezel to ensure proper
operation.
Removing a Blade from a Chassis
To remove a blade, perform the following steps.
1. Remove the front bezel on the chassis by pressing the latch on the right side toward the
center of the chassis.
2. If the blade is powered on, power down the blade.
3. A1010 blades only—Remove the Ethernet cable from the blade. If necessary, push up
gently on the latch on the Ethernet jack.
4. Pull gently on the blade until it slides out of the chassis using the D-shaped handle on the
front panel as. Be sure to support both ends of the blade when you remove it completely
from the chassis.
Never leave a PC blade unprotected when not in use. A blade should always be in a chassis or
in a storage box. Dust, dirt, and other debris can damage blades.

Chassis and Blade Installation
A1410 blades—Attach the cable to the expansion backplane.
A1010 blades—Attach an Ethernet cable to the blade, which engages the
blade-to-chassis latch.
A1410 blade—On the front of the blade, press the right-most button above the power symbol
A1010 blade—On the rear of the blade, press the power button as shown in
on page 6.
When you insert the PC blade, the power does not turn on automatically. You
must press the power button on the back of the blade to power it on.
CAUTION: Some surfaces on the blade may be hot, especially when the
blade has been powered on. Remove and handle the blade with care.
