Troubleshooting Guide for 5000 Analyzer (continued)
Possible Cause
Stream Switching Not Working Correctly
Switching Valves wired incorrectly
Bad Solenoid Valve
Incorrect configuration
Gen Temp Alert
Environmental Temp
Faulty electronic control amplifier
PCB
Faulty moisture generator heater or
thermistor
Faulty moisture generator thermis-
tor
Low Cell Frequency
Faulty Cell
High Cell Frequency
Contaminated sample cell
Contaminated dryer and/or trap
Excessive moisture
Isolation Procedure
Verify wiring at switching valves
and controller back plane (refer
to Figure 6, page 2-9)
Use the Select Streams option
of the test/config menu to verify
desired streams are selected (refer
to page 3-14)
Check for CR14 blinking.
Remove moisture generator cable
J2 CR14 will on, short pins 2 and 3
on the electronic control amplifier
PCB CR14 will go off.
Remove J2 and check pins 1 and 4
.
for 28Ω
Remove J2 and remove thermistor
from moisture generator, check for
≈100KΩ @ 23°C.
Leak test system
Verify sample gas is not above ana-
lyzer specifications.
Corrective Action
Correct wiring as required
Replace if required
Reconfigure as required.
Housing or ambient temperature is
too hot or too cold for the elec-
tronic control amplifier to control
moisture generator temperature.
If not, replace electronic control
amplifier PCB.
If not replace moisture generator
heater assembly.
If not 100KΩ, adjust R26 as neces-
sary. If adjustment will not work,
isolate either the moisture genera-
tor heater or field unit board.
Replace cell
