Signal strength and coverage problems
– Attenuation with distance and materi-
als in the home
– 5GHz has shorter reach than 2.4GHz
802.11 interference sources
– Co-channel interference (forces your
AP to share the channel)
– Adjacent channel interference (looks
like noise to your AP)
Non 802.11 Interference sources
– Microwaves, AV transmitters, cordless

High channel utilization
– The more APs in the channel, the
