19. Secure drainage catheter to patient, then connect end of catheter to Luer lock
fitting on drainage connecting tube. Attach universal connector to appropriate
drainage bag. Ensure the handle of the 3-way stopcock is turned to the correct
position to begin drainage.
Removal
20. Carefully remove the drainage catheter after indwell time by gently pulling it
through the nasal cavity until it exits through the nose
Upon completion of procedure, dispose of components per institutional
guidelines for biohazardous medical waste.
