ftMemory RAM Disk

ftMemory RAM Disk is ft series-specific software that improves performance and increases
usability of the applications that are running on the ft series. It allows you to use the main memory
as RAM disk that can be identified as partition disks of 10 to 256MB.
Since ftMemory RAM Disk is not included with the NEC Express5800/ft series, you need to
purchase it if necessary.
Improve performance and usability of applications
With ftMemory RAM Disk, you can read and write data between applications and the RAM disk
faster than disk I/O.
You can speed up applications by using ftMemory RAM Disk to save temp files that are
frequently accessed and updated by the applications, and Web server data that you also save to
physical media.
In addition to applications, you can speed up database processing by saving Oracle log files onto
ftMemory RAM Disk.
Since data in the main memory is not lost by the restarting of Windows without power-off,
ftMemory RAM Disk will be ready for use by applications just after the system re-startup. You
can speed up application re-start at the server startup by using ftMemory RAM Disk to save
application status control files that are necessary to start applications.
Fault-tolerant memory that can deliver quick recovery from hardware failure
ftMemory RAM Disk uses redundancy feature provided by the ft series. If a hardware failure
occurs at the main memory of one CPU module, the memory data will be retained on the other
module.
In the event of OS rebooting due to a STOP error of Windows, data on the main memory will be
retained by ftMemory RAM Disk. In conjunction with ft series' high-speed reboot and online
dump features, ftMemory RAM Disk can restore its data that you've been using. Hereby, server
downtime can be minimized.
