User's Guide
❏ Even if the Ink Supply Units/Cleaning Ink Supply
Units are removed from the printer, they can be
re-installed and used because their IC chips manage
their information, such as the amounts remaining
in them.
❏ Before you store ink supply units that you remove
during use, use a wide cleaning stick from the
supplied Maintenance Kit to adsorb the ink stuck
on their ink supply ports. Dried ink on the supply
port may cause ink leaks when the ink supply unit is
reinserted and used.
See the following for more information on cleaning
methods.
"Performing Pre-storage Maintenance" on
U
page 103
Make sure that the supply port is free of dust when
storing ink supply units. The port does not need to
be capped since there is a valve inside.
❏ Removed ink supply units may have ink around the
ink supply port, so be careful not to get any ink on
the surrounding area.
❏ To maintain the quality of the print head, the
printer is designed to stop printing before ink is
completely expended, leaving ink in the used ink
supply units.
❏ Although the Ink Supply Units/Cleaning Ink
Supply Units may contain recycled materials, it
does not affect the printer's function or
performance.
❏ Do not dismantle or modify Ink Supply Units/
Cleaning Ink Supply Units. You may not be able to
print properly.
❏ Do not drop or knock the Ink Supply Units/
Cleaning Ink Supply Units against hard objects;
otherwise ink may leak from them.
❏ Ink Supply Units (except for WH) that have been
loaded in the Ink Unit must be removed and
thoroughly shaken once every month.
WH must be removed and thoroughly shaken every
day before starting printing work.
You do not need to shake the Cleaning Ink Supply
Unit and ML.

Notes on Handling White Ink

A characteristic of White ink is that it sediments easily
(ink particles sink to the bottom of the liquid). If the ink
is used while in this state, print quality may decline or
the printer may malfunction. Note the following points
to use the printer under optimum conditions.
❏ Ink supply units that have been loaded must be
removed and thoroughly shaken before starting
work and once every 24 hours (when a message is
displayed).
"Shaking and Replacing Ink Supply Units" on
U
page 89
❏ Print quality may decline due to the ink's
components sedimenting in the ink tubes. See the
following if there is not enough white or the white is
uneven in the print results.
"Not enough or uneven whiteness" on
U
page 130
❏ When storing ink supply units, place them down
flat (keep them level). If ink supply units are stored
standing upright, you may not be able to clear the
sedimentation even by shaking them.
❏ If the printer will not be used for more than 2 weeks,
use the cleaning ink supply unit (sold separately) to
do pre-storage maintenance. If the printer is left in
this condition without performing maintenance, it
may be impossible to clear clogging in the print
head.
"Pre-Storage Maintenance for Long-Term
U
Non-Use" on page 103
Note:
While in White ink mode, White ink is still consumed
during maintenance even when printing with color ink
only.
Notes on Handling T-shirts
(Media)
Note the following points when handling and storing
printed T-shirts.
❏ Avoid locations that are subject to direct sunlight,
excessive heat, or humidity. If T-shirts are stored in
a hot place after printing, the printed surface may
soften and stick.
