Troubleshoot with the Indicators
Indication
Probable Cause
Flashing red
One or more I/O connections are in timed-out state
Solid red
Critical link failure present with failed communication device.
Device detected error that prevents it from communicating on the
network.
Flashing red/green
Communication faulted device - the device detected a network
access error and is in communication faulted state. Device
received and accepted an Identify Communication Faulted
Request - long protocol message.
Subnet and POINTBus Status
Off
Device is not online.
• Device has not completed Dup_MAC_ID test.
• Device is not powered - check module status indicator.
Flashing green
Device is online but has no connections in the established
state.
Solid green
Device is online and has connections in the established
state.
Flashing red
No scanlist is available. I/O module is missing.
Solid red
Critical link failure - failed communication device present.
Device detected error that prevents it from
communicating on the network.

Probable Cause
Field power is OFF, or DC-DC
converter problem.
System power is on. DC-DC
converter is active (5V).
Field power is off.
Power is on with 24V present.
Recommended Action
Check for I/O module failure, and correct, as
needed.
Verify that adapter and terminal bases are
properly installed, and reinstall, as needed.

Check adapter status indicator to determine if more
time is needed to complete the dup_MAC_id test or
if the adapter needs to be powered.

1. Make sure all I/O modules are connected and
using the correct MAC IDs.
2. Check Cycling Node Status parameter in
RSNetWorx for DeviceNet software.

MAC ID = 0.

rate.
Recommended Action
1. Verify field power is on.
2. Verify backplane power (load current) is not exceeded.
3. Replace 1734-ADN(X) adapter.
