7 Preparation for Use

7.1 Alignment

CAUTION
Pulling out the distally visible cables in the knee joint
Falling due to unexpected product behaviour as the result of malfunction.
► Do not pull out the distally visible cables under any circumstances, otherwise the electronics may be dam­
aged. The tube adapter does not contain any electronic components that need to be connected to the knee
joint.

7.1.1 Shortening the Tube Adapter

CAUTION
Incorrect processing of tube
Falling due to damage to the tube.
► Do not clamp the tube into a vice.
► For shortening the tube, use only a tube cutter.
Recommended tools and materials:
>
719R3 tube cutter, 718S2 tube deburrer
1) Determine the length of the tube adapter using the adjustment software.
2) Use the tube cutter to shorten the tube to the required length.
3) Deburr the inside and outside of the cut edge with the tube deburrer.
4) Remove the cover cap on the plug.

7.1.2 Installing the Tube Adapter

1) Attach the foot to the tube adapter. Use the Allen key to tighten it slightly (approx. 4 Nm).
2) Slide the tube adapter 50 mm into the knee joint.
INFORMATION: Corrections in the insertion depth between 40 mm and 55 mm are permissible (slide
in 5 mm and pull out 10 mm).
3) Use the Allen key to tighten both screws on the clamp bracket slightly (approx. 4 Nm).
CAUTION
Improper assembly of the screw connections
Falling due to breakage or loosening of the screw connections.
► Clean the threads before every installation.
► Apply the specified installation torque values.
► Observe the instructions for securing the screw connections and the use of the correct length.
Installation on the Prosthetic Knee Joint
Required tools and materials:
>
710D4 torque wrench, degreasing cleaner (verify material compatibility!)
1) Loosen both screws by 2 turns.
2) Clean the contact surfaces of the prosthetic knee joint and tube adapter using a degreasing cleaning agent.
3) Slightly rotate the tube as you insert it into the prosthetic knee joint to the stop.
4) Use the torque wrench to tighten both screws (7 Nm).
Installation on the Prosthetic Foot
Required tools and materials:
>
710D4 torque wrench, 636K13 Loctite®
1) Position the pyramid receiver of the tube adapter on the pyramid adapter of the prosthetic foot.
2) For final assembly, use Loctite® to secure the set screws of the pyramid receiver.
3) Screw in the set screws.
4) Use the torque wrench to tighten the set screws (10 Nm).
5) Replace any set screws that are protruding or recessed too much with suitable ones (see selection table).
6) For final assembly, use the torque wrench to retighten the set screws (15 Nm).
