SNMP
Simple Network Management Protocol. The protocol that Harmonic control and management
systems use to configure and monitor Harmonic devices remotely over IP.
SNR
Signal-to-Noise Ratio. The ratio of the amplitude (power, volume) of a data signal to the amount
of noise (interference) in the line. It measures the clarity and quality of a transmission channel or
electronic device, usually in decibels.
SOAP
Simple Object Access Protocol.
Socket
An additional qualifying value for an IP address used by the UDP protocol.
Spatial activity
The amount of detail in each individual image, ignoring image-to-image changes or motion.
The spatial activity value is the average of the spatial activity for all frames during the sampling
period. For IRIS, the spatial activity value range is 0 to 100. Video content with little variation of
detail, for example, blue sky or a white wall, will have a low spatial activity value.

A method that spreads the energy over a range of frequencies to minimize interference with other
transponders.
SPPC
Separate PID Per Channel. SPPC allows two audio circuits per audio adapter port, where each
circuit is identified by a separate PID. SPPC supports mono channels by encoding the right and
left channels of each stereo pair as separate channels. This doubles the audio capacity of the
adapter port. SPPC is only supported on specific audio adapters.
