40.1.1 Serial Over IP introduction
The Serial Over IP application can be used in several ways, but the use cases can
be divided into four typical applications:
Serial point-to-point
Serial one-to-many (typically a Master-slaves application)
PC access to remote serial devices.
Modem replacement
40.1.1.1 Point-to-point
In this way two serial devices can communicate over an IP network. It can be set
up either as a client-server configuration using TCP, and as two peers using UDP.

This allows one serial device (typically a master) to communicate with multiple
serial devices using UDP transport. It can be set up as IP broadcast, IP multicast,
