CHAPTER 3 Component Configuration and Replacement (Add, Remove)
3.2 High availability configuration
Full Mirror
Partial Mirror
Address Range Mirror
Address Range Mirroring
If Address Range Mirror is enabled, memory included in the partition can be partially mirrored. Memory size
to be mirrored must be set by BIOS menu or OS. The way to specify mirror size can be selected by BIOS
menu. If you use Address Range Mirror, you must enable Address Range Mirror on MMB Web-UI and
perform size setting or percentage setting on OS or BIOS menu in order to enable Address Range Mirror for
the partition.
For BIOS menu, see '3.4.6 [Memory Configuration] menu' in the "PRIMEQUEST 2000 series Tool Reference'
(CA92344-0539).
For setting by OS, see documents of each OS.
Maximu memory size being able to mirror
In Address Range Mirror mode, Maximum memory size being able to mirror of all memory included in the
partition is as follows:
-
If PCI Address mode is 'Segment mode',
'Half of quantity of all installed memory in the partition' – 'Half of DIMM capacity under CPU#0 of Home
SB' + 1.5 GB
-
If PCI Address mode is 'Bus mode',
'Half of quantity of all installed memory in the partition' – 'Half of DIMM capacity under CPU#0 of Home
SB' + 2.0 GB
In Home SB and Non-Home SB, memory size being able to mirror is shown in the table below.

TABLE 3.18 Mirror size being able to mirror in Home SB and Non-Home SB

CPU#0
Segment mode: 1.5 GB
Bus mode: 2.0 GB
Address Range Mirroring when Dynamic Reconfiguration is enbaled
When Dynamice Reconfiguration is enabled, memories on Home SB are mirrored by specified mirror size.
Address Range Mirroring when Extended Partitioning is enbaled
When Extended Partitioning is enabled, only memory region which is used by Extended Partitioning firmware
is mirrored.
Operation where there is an error in the DIMM when the Address Range Mirror is enabled
-
If the way to specify mirror size is set to "OS Request" in BIOS menu,
after an error in the DIMM occurs, the partition will start up with the rest of nomal DIMMs mirrored by the
size or percentage specified by OS before an error in the DIMM occurs.
-
If the way to specify mirror size is set to "BIOS Menu Setting" in BIOS menu,
after an error in the DIMM occurs, the partition will start up with the rest of nomal DIMMs mirrored by the
size specified by BIOS menu before an error in the DIMM occurs.
Note
-
If you use Address Range Mirror mode, you must boot OS with UEFI. If you boot OS with Legacy, OS
does not aware Address Range Mirror mode.
-
There is no setting about Memory Mirror RAS for Address Range Mirror mode.
-
When PCI Address mode is Segment mode, memory under CPU#0 in Home SB can be mirrored by only
1.5 GB. When PCI Address mode is Bus mode, memory under CPU#0 in Home SB can be mirrored by
only 2.0 GB.
-
If the way to specify mirror size is set to "OS Request" in BIOS menu, memory size to be mirrored cannot
be reflected by BIOS menu.
-
If the way to specify mirror size is set to "BIOS Menu Setting" in BIOS menu, memory size to be mirrored
specified by OS cannot be reflected.
