3.7 HELMET COMPARTMENT

This is located under the passenger's seat. To gain access to
the compartment, put the vehicle on its stand; press and turn
the ignition key (fig. 11) clockwise; this operation will release
the seat lock. The helmet compartment contains two helmets,
as long as they are positioned as shown in fig. 12. Some types
of helmet may not fit into the compartment or in other cases
the compartment may not be large enough to contain two hel-
mets of a certain type. Before purchasing your helmet, make
sure it fits into the compartment.
As an alternative, the compartment can contain a brief case
(depending on the type and size).
An external helmet fastener is located on the front left edge of
the helmet compartment (Fig. 13).
A courtesy light is provided inside the compartment, which
comes on and goes off when the compartment is respectively
opened and closed. The light comes on only if the ignition key
is turned "on".
The helmet compartment also houses a 12V socket (Fig. 13)
that can be used for recharging a mobile phone, for instance.
The socket must only be used with the engine running and
with the lights preferably off; bear in mind that usage of the
socket reduces the battery recharging capacity and in some
cases reduces the battery charge level. Do not use the socket
for appliances with an excessive power draw (max. power
draw: 30 W). The socket can also be used to recharge the
battery - when the vehicle is off - using a special battery charger
(12V – 1.7A) for maintenance-free batteries.
Remember to refit the socket cap after use to prevent foreign
matters from causing short-circuits or other unexpected con-
sequences.
The helmet compartment can be used to carry light ob-
jects. They shall be stored in such a way as not to com-
promise the vehicle's stability while riding. Do not store
objects which are not temperature resistant (lighters,
inflammable liquids, perishable goods, etc.). Do not leave
documents or valuables inside the helmet compartment.
