– Disconnect battery earth cable with ignition switched on ⇒
Electrical system; Rep. gr. 27 ; Battery; Connecting and dis‐
connecting battery .
– Remove bench seat
– Remove side padding
– Remove wheel housing trim together with side airbag

WARNING
Before handling pyrotechnic components (e.g. separating the
electrical connector), the person handling them must "electri‐
cally discharge" himself/herself. To do this e.g. briefly touch the
door striker plate.
– Detach connector -1- from crash sensor -3-.
– Undo bolt -2- (9 Nm) and remove crash sensor -3- from body
