RECOIL STARTER ASSEMBLY
4. Remove
• Float washer 4
• Circlip 3
5. Set:
• Spiral spring
Setting steps:
(1)Place the starter rope 2 at the cutaway
a
of the sheave drum 1.
(2)Wind the sheave drum 1 6 turns
counterclockwise with the starter rope
2.
(3)Remove starter rope 2 from cutaway
a
, then wind on sheave drum 1.
6. Install
• Return spring 5
• Drive plate 6
NOTE:
Hook both ends of the return spring to the
pin portion of the sheave drum and the claw
on the drive plate to install

CHECKING THE RECOIL STARTER

1. Check:
• Recoil starter operation
Rough operation
NOTE:
• When checking the recoil starter only,
release the start-in-gear protection device.
• Adjust the start-in-gear protection wire,
before installing the recoil starter assembly
to the power unit. Refer to "ADJUSTING
THE START-IN-GEAR PROTECTION
DEVICE" on page 3-12.
