To protect the removed FIP, place it in an antistatic bag.

If you do not install a new FIP in the slot, install a blank panel to prevent dust from entering the

chassis. For how to install a blank panel, refer to
page 4-35.

Installing a HIM

Follow these steps to install a HIM:
Step1 Face the front panel of the router.
Step2 Locate the slot where you will install the HIM.
Step3 Remove the two blank panels from the position where you will install the HIM. For how to
remove the blank panels, refer to
Step4 Gently push the HIM (with the components facing upwards) into the HIM slot along the slide
rails, and then push the ejector levers inward to lock the HIM in position.

Step5 Fasten the captive screws on the HIM clockwise with a flat-blade screwdriver.
