Removing a FIP
Do not unplug a working FIP when its RUN LED is fast blinking. Doing so may cause
malfunction on the board.
Be sure to run the remove slot slot-number command before removing a FIP while the router
is operating.
If you have run this command but do not want to remove the FIP, use the undo remove slot
slot-number command to cancel the operation.
It is unnecessary to run the undo remove slot slot-number command after you remove a FIP
and insert it again.
The following describes how to remove a FIP-200. You can remove FIPs in a similar way.
Step1
Face the front panel of the router.
Step2
Locate the FIP to be removed. The figures below illustrate how to remove the FIP in Slot 3.
Step3
Loosen the captive screws on the FIP counterclockwise with a Philips screwdriver.
Figure 4-26 Loosen the captive screws
Step4
Pull the two ejector levers at both ends of the FIP outward to release the FIP, and then gently
pull the FIP out along the slide rails.
