User Equation and User Class

• The User Equation (User Index) function allows users to input an equation defined by the user and using values
currently set for display on the instrument, and have the instrument show the results of the user-defined equation.
• The User Class function allows users to classify measurements into groups (such as grades or ranks) according to the
results of a defined User Equation.
Registering a User Equation and/or User Class on the instrument
The User Equation and/or User Class can be registered on the instrument using Color Data Software SpectraMagic NX.
• The User Class is defined based on the User Equation of the same number. For example, UC1 is defined based on
UE1. If no User Equation is defined for the selected UC number, the User Class definition will not be used.
Displaying the results of a User Equation and/or User Class on the
instrument
The calculated results for a User Equation and/or User Class can be displayed by selecting UE1 to UE3 (User
Equation 1 to 3) and/or UC1 to UC3 (User Class 1 to 3) in a Custom screen of Display cond. on the instrument. (See
Display Settings in the Instruction Manual for the instrument.)
Measurement values
The following measurement values can be used in User Equation.
• The measurement values to be used in the User Equation must be set to be displayed on the instrument in the
Display type, Color space, Equation, or Custom screen of Display cond. on the instrument. (See Display Settings
in the Instruction Manual for the instrument.)
• Measurement values not listed in the table below cannot be used.
