Problems that are NOT caused by the OPC drum
Drums should NOT be replaced to resolve the problems described in the table below.
Symptom
a) SC396~
Most of these SCs are caused by
SC399
drum motor lock as a result of stuck
waste toner in the development gap
between the development roller and
OPC drum, which occurs when the
drum rotation suddenly stops in an
abnormal state.
b) Uneven
Change in the charge applied to the
density
toner affects the development
randomly
capacity and transferability. Possible
causing factors are: low PV per job,
high ratio of text, high usage rate of
finishing options, high ratio of B/W
print jobs, which apply stress to the
color toners.
c) Vertical
If the streaks do not appear at
streaks
314mm intervals (= drum
circumference), the problem is
caused by either of the following:
Dirty charge unit caused by toner
scattering
Change in charge level caused by
unevenly lubricated drum surface
d) Horizontal
If the streaks do not appear at
bands
314mm intervals (= drum
circumference), the bands should be
considered as "shock-jitter/banding".
e) Dirty
Low toner fluidity causes
printout
contamination inside the machine
results in the following:
Toner scattering around the
development unit
Degradation of waste toner collection
in the ITB unit
f) Dirty
Low toner fluidity in the development
backgroun
unit disables the sensor to properly
d
detect the amount of toner in the
unit. As a result, the sensor detects
extremely high toner concentration.

Solution
Power cycle the
machine a few times.
Manually turn the
development roller
with your hands to
remove stuck waste
toner.
Enable ACS to
prevent idling of CMY
units.
Increase the amount
of toner exhausted in
the toner refresh
mode.
Replace with new
toner.
Remove toner
clumps.
Positively replace
parts at the
prescribed PM yield.
Do troubleshooting
procedures for
"shock-
jitter/banding".
Replace with new
toner.
