Menu types and properties

The menu consists of the following two main levels:
Introduction
· 'Primary menu'
· 'Main menu'
Menus can be extended using:
· Sub-menus
· Menu extensions
The menu is shown in the bottom part of the display.
It consists of 6 softkeys at the most. These are arranged in groups of three on the left and right.
· The primary menu is displayed as standard.
Menu properties
· The menus are dependent on status and context, i.e. they depend on the actual system sta-
tus (e.g. normal operation, alarm, ...) and on the message selected.
· Only those functions which are available at the user's authorization level are shown in the
menus.
· Menus with a large number of functions displayed at the same level feature a menu exten-
sion.
· But functions can also be combined in sub-menus.
· The menu is tree-like in structure with various levels of branches.
· Navigation softkeys allow the user to switch between menus.
· There is at least one softkey for navigation in each menu.
A softkey's labeling indicates it basic functionality. It may be a function which is performed im-

There are also several predefined softkeys for navigation.
· Softkeys which are followed by two dots (..) indicate an underlying menu.
