of t he device. I f you choose By Tr a ffic Le ve l, t hen ent er t he t raffic t hreshold at which t he device
st art s balancing connect ed st at ions.

t hreshold is crossed. The st at ions are first disconnect ed based on how long t hey have been idle,
t hen secondly based on t he weakness of t heir connect ion signal st rengt h.

4.4 Dynamic Channel Selection

Dynam ic Channel Select ion ( DCS) is a feat ure t hat allows an AP t o aut om at ically select t he radio
channel upon which it broadcast s by scanning t he area around it and det erm ining what channels
are current ly being used by ot her devices.
When num erous APs broadcast wit hin a given area, t hey int roduce t he possibilit y of height ened
radio int erference, especially if som e or all of t hem are broadcast ing on t he sam e radio channel.
This can m ake accessing t he net work pot ent ially rat her difficult for t he st at ions connect ed t o t hem .
I f t he int erference becom es t oo great , t hen t he net work adm inist rat or m ust open his AP
configurat ion opt ions and m anually change t he channel t o one t hat no ot her AP is using ( or at least
a channel t hat has a lower level of int erference) in order t o give t he connect ed st at ions a m inim um
degree of channel int erference.
