DESCRIPTION
Click t his but t on t o display a great er or lesser num ber of configurat ion fields.
Select t he device HA role t hat t he device plays in t he virt ual rout er. Choices are:
M a st e r - This device is t he m ast er device in t he virt ual rout er. This device uses
t he virt ual I P address for each m onit ored int erface.
Note: Do not set this field to Master for two or more devices in the same virtual
router (same cluster ID).
Ba ck u p - This device is a backup device in t he virt ual rout er. This device does
not use any of t he virt ual I P addresses.
This field is available for a backup device. Type t he priorit y of t he backup device.
The backup device wit h t he highest value t akes over t he role of t he m ast er
device if t he m ast er device becom es unavailable. The priorit y m ust be bet ween 1
and 254. ( The m ast er int erface has priorit y 255.)
This field is available for a backup device. Select t his if t his device should
becom e t he m ast er device if a lower- priorit y device is t he m ast er when t his one
is enabled. ( I f t he role is m ast er, t he device preem pt s by default .)
Type t he clust er I D num ber. A virt ual rout er consist s of a m ast er device and all of
it s backup devices. I f you have m ult iple device virt ual rout ers on your net work,
use a different clust er I D for each virt ual rout er.
Select t he aut hent icat ion m et hod t he virt ual rout er uses. Every int erface in a
virt ual rout er m ust use t he sam e aut hent icat ion m et hod and password. Choices
are:
N on e - t his virt ual rout er does not use any aut hent icat ion m et hod.
Te x t - t his virt ual rout er uses a plain t ext password for aut hent icat ion. Type t he
password in t he field next t o t he radio but t on. The password can consist of
alphanum eric charact ers, t he underscore, and som e punct uat ion m arks ( + - / * =
: ; .! @$&% # ~ ' \ ( ) ) , and it can be up t o eight charact ers long.
I P AH ( M D 5 ) - t his virt ual rout er uses an encrypt ed MD5 password for
aut hent icat ion. Type t he password in t he field next t o t he radio but t on. The
password can consist of alphanum eric charact ers, t he underscore, and som e
punct uat ion m arks ( + - / * = : ; .! @$&% # ~ ' \ ( ) ) , and it can be up t o eight
charact ers long.

int erfaces.
Select an ent ry and click t his t o be able t o m odify it .
To t urn on an ent ry, select it and click Act iva t e .
To t urn off an ent ry, select it and click I n a ct iva t e .
This is t he ent ry's index num ber in t he list .
The act ivat e ( light bulb) icon is lit when t he ent ry is act ive and dim m ed when t he
ent ry is inact ive.
This field ident ifies t he int erface. At t he t im e of writ ing, Et hernet and bridge
int erfaces can be included in t he act ive- passive m ode virt ual rout er. The m em ber
int erfaces of any bridge int erfaces do not display separat ely.
