1.8 Starting and Stopping the device

Here are som e of t he ways t o st art and st op t he device.
Always use Maintenance > Shutdown or the shutdown command before
you turn off the device or remove the power. Not doing so can cause the
firmware to become corrupt.

DESCRIPTION
A cold st art occurs when you t urn on t he power t o t he device. The device
powers up, checks t he hardware, and st art s t he syst em processes.
A warm st art ( wit hout powering down and powering up again) occurs when
you use t he Re boot but t on in t he Re boot screen or when you use t he
reboot com m and. The device writ es all cached dat a t o t he local st orage,
st ops t he syst em processes, and t hen does a warm st art .
I f you press t he RESET but t on, t he device set s t he configurat ion t o it s
default values and t hen reboot s.
Clicking M a in t e na n ce > Shu t dow n > Sh u t dow n or using t he shutdown
com m and writ es all cached dat a t o t he local st orage and st ops t he syst em
processes. Wait for t he device t o shut down and t hen m anually t urn off or
rem ove t he power. I t does not t urn off t he power.
Power off occurs when you t urn off t he power t o t he device. The device
sim ply t urns off. I t does not st op t he syst em processes or writ e cached dat a
t o local st orage.
DESCRIPTION
The device is receiving power and funct ioning
properly.
The device is not receiving power.
