18.3.1 Packet Capture Files

screen. This screen list s t he files of packet capt ures t he device has perform ed. You can download
t he files t o your com put er where you can st udy t hem using a packet analyzer ( also known as a
net work or prot ocol analyzer) such as Wireshark.

18.3.2 Example of Viewing a Packet Capture File

Here is an exam ple of a packet capt ure file viewed in t he Wireshark packet analyzer. Not ice t hat t he
size of fram e 15 on t he wire is 1514 byt es while t he capt ured size is only 1500 byt es. The device

[ Ct rl] key t o select m ult iple files. A pop- up window asks you t o confirm t hat you want
t o delet e.
Click a file t o select it and click D ow n loa d t o save it t o your com put er.

of packet capt ure files t hat you can save depends on t he file sizes and t he available
flash st orage space.
This colum n displays t he label t hat ident ifies t he file. The file nam e form at is int erface
nam e- file suffix.cap.
This colum n displays t he size ( in byt es) of a configurat ion file.
This colum n displays t he dat e and t im e t hat t he individual files were saved.
