9.5.1 Disassociating and Delaying Connections

When your AP becom es overloaded, t here are t wo basic responses it can t ake. The first one is t o
" delay" a client connect ion. This m eans t hat t he AP wit hholds t he connect ion unt il t he dat a t ransfer
t hroughput is lowered or t he client connect ion is picked up by anot her AP . I f t he client is picked up
by anot her AP t hen t he original AP cannot resum e t he connect ion.
For exam ple, here t he AP has a balanced bandwidt h allot m ent of 6 Mbps. I f lapt op R connect s and
it pushes t he AP over it s allot m ent , say t o 7 Mbps, t hen t he AP delays t he red lapt op's connect ion
unt il it can afford t he bandwidt h or t he lapt op is picked up by a different AP wit h bandwidt h t o
spare.
