This chapt er shows you how t o configure preset profiles for t he Access Point s ( APs) connect ed t o
your device's wireless net work.

Wireless Profiles
At t he heart of all wireless AP configurat ions on t he device are profiles. A profile represent s a group
of saved set t ings t hat you can use across any num ber of connect ed APs. You can set up t he
following wireless profile t ypes:
• Ra dio - This profile t ype defines t he propert ies of an AP's radio t ransm it t er. You can have a
m axim um of 32 radio profiles on t he device.
• SSI D - This profile t ype defines t he propert ies of a single wireless net work signal broadcast by
an AP . Each radio on a single AP can broadcast up t o 8 SSI Ds. You can have a m axim um of 32
SSI D profiles on t he device.
• Se cur it y - This profile t ype defines t he securit y set t ings used by a single SSI D. I t cont rols t he
encrypt ion m et hod required for a wireless client t o associat e it self wit h t he SSI D. You can have a
m axim um of 32 securit y profiles on t he device.
• M AC Filt e r in g - This profile provides an addit ional layer of securit y for an SSI D, allowing you t o
block access or allow access t o t hat SSI D based on wireless client MAC addresses. I f a client 's
MAC address is on t he list , t hen it is eit her allowed or denied, depending on how you set up t he
MAC Filt er profile. You can have a m axim um of 32 MAC filt ering profiles on t he device.
SSID
The SSI D ( Service Set I Dent ifier) is t he nam e t hat ident ifies t he Service Set wit h which a wireless
st at ion is associat ed. Wireless st at ions associat ing t o t he access point ( AP) m ust have t he sam e
SSI D. I n ot her words, it is t he nam e of t he wireless net work t hat client s use t o connect t o it .
