12.3.2 Security List

This screen allows you t o m anage wireless securit y configurat ions t hat can be used by your SSI Ds.
Wireless securit y is im plem ent ed st rict ly bet ween t he AP broadcast ing t he SSI D and t he st at ions
t hat are connect ed t o it .
To access t his screen click Configur a t ion > Obj e ct > AP Pr ofile > SSI D > Se cur it y List .

DESCRIPTION
Select a Qualit y of Service ( QoS) access cat egory t o associat e wit h t his SSI D.
Access cat egories m inim ize t he delay of dat a packet s across a wireless net work.
Cert ain cat egories, such as video or voice, are given a higher priorit y due t o t he
t im e sensit ive nat ure of t heir dat a packet s.
QoS access cat egories are as follows:
disa ble : Turns off QoS for t his SSI D. All dat a packet s are t reat ed equally and not
t agged wit h access cat egories.
W M M : Enables aut om at ic t agging of dat a packet s. The device assigns access
cat egories t o t he SSI D by exam ining dat a as it passes t hrough it and m aking a
best guess effort . I f som et hing looks like video t raffic, for inst ance, it is t agged as
such.
W M M _ VOI CE: All wireless t raffic t o t he SSI D is t agged as voice dat a. This is
recom m ended if an SSI D is used for act ivit ies like placing and receiving VoI P
phone calls.
W M M _ VI D EO: All wireless t raffic t o t he SSI D is t agged as video dat a. This is
recom m ended for act ivit ies like video conferencing.
W M M _ BEST_ EFFORT: All wireless t raffic t o t he SSI D is t agged as " best effort ,"
m eaning t he dat a t ravels t he best rout e it can wit hout displacing higher priorit y
t raffic. This is good for act ivit ies t hat do not require t he best bandwidt h
t hroughput , such as surfing t he I nt ernet .
W M M _ BACKGROUN D : All wireless t raffic t o t he SSI D is t agged as low priorit y or
" background t raffic", m eaning all ot her access cat egories t ake precedence over
t his one. I f t raffic from an SSI D does not have st rict t hroughput requirem ent s,
t hen t his access cat egory is recom m ended. For exam ple, an SSI D t hat only has
net work print ers connect ed t o it .
Ent er a VLAN I D for t he device t o use t o t ag t raffic originat ing from t his SSI D.
Select t his if you want t o " hide" your SSI D from wireless client s. This t ells any
wireless client s in t he vicinit y of t he AP using t his SSI D profile not t o display it s
SSI D nam e as a pot ent ial connect ion. Not all wireless client s respect t his flag and
display it anyway.
When an SSI D is " hidden" and a wireless client cannot see it , t he only way you
can connect t o t he SSI D is by m anually ent ering t he SSI D nam e in your wireless
connect ion set up screen( s) ( t hese vary by client , client connect ivit y soft ware, and
operat ing syst em ) .
Select t his opt ion t o prevent crossover t raffic from wit hin t he sam e SSI D.
Click OK t o save your changes back t o t he device.
Click Ca n ce l t o exit t his screen wit hout saving your changes.
